Meet Richard

I'm a born and raised El Pasoan. I graduated from El Dorado High School in 2010 and UTEP in 2021.

Politics was not my first calling; I wanted to become a teacher. My father passed when I was twelve and my mother struggled to raise my younger sister and I on her own. It didn't seem out of place to me when, upon reflection, I determined that many of the people I held in highest regard in my mind were my teachers. At a turning point in my life, I decided to pursue a career in education. I hope to leave at least one student with the same positive impact as so many of my teachers had on me.

In 2020 I supported and got involved with two local campaigns which helped prompt the creation of my podcast, The El Paso Beat. Through coverage for this podcast I came to learn that many of the issues prompting those political runs in 2020 were remaining unaddressed. Further, I do not feel my concerns for the imminent dangers of the Fourth Industrial Revolution are fully realized or understood by our current leadership, a concern I intend to remedy with my campaign.

I'm running to be your full-time forward thinking rep. I'm going to do everything I can to ensure the success and growth of our district and city, so that I can one day carry out my goal of being a local educator, without the looming dread for the cliff we're headed towards. 

Naci y creci en El Paso. Me gradue de El Dorado High School en el 2010 y de UTEP el 2021. 

La política no fue mi primer llamado; yo quería ser maestro. Mi padre falleció cuando yo solo tenía doce años y fue difícil para mi madre educar a mi hermana menor y a mi ella sola. No me pareció extraño cuando después de una reflexión, me di cuenta que mucha de la gente a la que yo tenía en gran estima fueran mis maestros. En cierto punto en mi vida, sentí que tenía una deuda con el universo y me gustaría dejar por lo menos a un estudiante con el mismo impacto positivo que tantos de mis maestros dejaron en mí. 

En el año 2020 apoye y participe en dos  campañas  locales las cuales ayudaron a impulsar la creación de mi podcast, The El Paso Beat. A través de la cobertura de este podcast, me entere de que muchos de los problemas que provocaron esas carreras políticas en el 2020 seguían sin resolverse. Además, no creo que nuestro liderazgo actual comprenda por completo mi preocupación por los peligros inminentes de la Cuarta Revolución Industrial, una preocupación que pretendo remediar con mi campaña. 

Me postulo para ser su representante de tiempo completo con mentalidad progresiva. Voy a hacer todo lo posible para asegurar el éxito y desarrollo de nuestro distrito y de nuestra ciudad, para que algún día pueda lograr mi objetivo de ser un educador local, sin el temor inminente del precipicio al que nos dirigimos.
